Business start up

In our experience, people setting up a new business have great imagination and business potential but are not experts in running their own business.

We are more than happy to help in the following areas, as well as providing general business advice:

bullet

Reviewing the most suitable structure for your intended business

bullet

Completing cash flow forecasts and business plans

bullet

Negotiating with banks and other lenders

bullet

Registering your business with the relevant authorities

bullet

Considering and implementing bookkeeping systems which provide useful management information

Taxation

Much of the self assessment work that we complete links with the preparation of financial accounts for sole traders and partnerships. We can also offer the completion of self assessment tax returns for individuals with investments, as well as other types of income.

We are able to complete calculations involving income tax, capital gains and inheritance taxation.

We can complete corporation tax returns on behalf of companies, providing a tax calculation to aid budgeting and cash flow planning. This work can be completed along side the director’s income tax returns, providing an overall taxation liability for both the company and its directors.

We can deal with H M Revenue and Customs directly, wherever possible, to avoid inefficient, third party involvement. Should you be selected for H M Revenue and Customs inspection, we can act for you, attending meetings and replying to correspondence.

If you think that you are due a tax refund, please do not hesitate to contact us for a consultation.

Bookkeeping and company secretarial

We are happy to complete bookkeeping for any size or type of organisation. Often, when running your own business, there is so much work to carry out that record keeping is hard to keep up to date.

We can either review your current systems to improve efficiency or take over with your record keeping so that you have more time to invest in other aspects of your business.

The frequency and type of work that we complete on your behalf can be aimed to provide active management information as well as being in a format to aid accounts preparation. We can look to produce bespoke reports specifically aimed at providing information to increase profitability.

Should you experience a busy time or have staffing problems, we can complete book-keeping for an agreed period.

We are able to provide company secretarial services including company formation, minute preparation, statutory form completion and accounts submission. Our services also include statutory book maintenance and company law advice.

Accounting

As well as completing book-keeping, we assist many of our clients with the preparation of year end accounts.

We are equipped to complete accounts and working papers ready for audit, as well as assisting with the preparation of management accounts.

Should you wish to complete your own accounts preparation, we are able to provide guidance as to the best, and most effective approach required, including a review of accounting software.

Payroll

Whether a weekly or monthly calculation, or even a mixture of both, we have the facility to calculate your payroll. We can set up your PAYE scheme with H M Revenue and Customs and design payslips and timesheets to suit your requirements.

We are able to complete the general administration of a PAYE scheme, including completion of forms such as P45's, P60's and year end forms for submission to H M Revenue and Customs.

Calculation of holiday pay, statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay and other such adjustments can be part of the service that we provide. We can advise in relation to benefits in kind and complete the forms required in this area.

Administration of pension schemes can be built into out terms of engagement.

VAT

Even if your turnover is below the value added tax (VAT) threshold, it may still be beneficial for you to register for VAT. Although time consuming to calculate, there maybe financial incentives to registration. There are different VAT schemes that we can review to suit your business type.

We can aid with both the initial registration process as well as the administration processes that follow. We are able to provide guidance in relation to VAT return completion or we can carry out this work on your behalf.

Should H M Revenue and Customs wish to review your VAT records, we are happy to assist in this area. Our premises can be used as a meeting place for the visit so that we are on hand to answer any questions that arise.
